The Marketing degree at Eastern Oregon University prepares students to become strategic, data-informed, and creative marketing professionals in a rapidly evolving global marketplace.
Students build a strong foundation in marketing principles while gaining hands-on experience through applied, experiential learning projects. Courses emphasize emerging digital, interactive, and mobile technologies; web and data analytics; project management; integrated marketing communications; creativity and innovation; and professional collaboration skills.
EOU’s Marketing program is intentionally designed to reflect the skills employers are actively seeking strategic thinking, data literacy, persuasive communication, and ethical decision-making ensuring graduates are career-ready and adaptable in an ever-changing business environment.
Learning Outcomes
- Content Knowledge: Students will demonstrate functional knowledge of marketing concepts, vocabulary, principles, and practices and evaluate the impact of dynamic macro- and micro-environmental factors on marketing strategy development.
- Communication Skills: Students will demonstrate advanced professional communication skills using appropriate methodologies and technologies, including the ability to design and present outcome-driven marketing and sales proposals to diverse audiences.
- Critical Thinking and Analytical Reasoning Skills: Students will apply critical thinking and analytical reasoning to complex business situations, using data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Personal and Social Responsibility: Students will incorporate diverse cultural perspectives and ethical reasoning into marketing decision-making and develop strategic marketing plans grounded in research, customer analysis, and financial performance indicators.
- Inquiry and Integrated Learning: Students will design and execute a culminating project that integrates business theory and applied marketing practice, including digital brand development and social media strategy implementation.
Means of Assessment
The Marketing program utilizes intentional, outcomes-based assessment to ensure students achieve both foundational knowledge and higher-order strategic skills.
Each course includes targeted assessments aligned with program-level learning outcomes. These assessments measure content mastery, analytical reasoning, communication effectiveness, and practical application of marketing concepts.
Program-level assessment is conducted through ongoing review of course outcomes and culminates in a capstone experience in which students synthesize, reflect upon, and demonstrate their marketing competencies through a comprehensive applied project.
