Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing

The Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing is a minimum 60-graded credit hour degree.
At least 8 credit hours in WR 552 must be in genres other than your principal genre.
A minimum grade of “B-” and a cumulative GPA of 3.00 (or better) is required in all courses counting toward the degree.
A maximum of 15 transfer credits can be applied to EOU’s MFA degree.
Practicum should be planned before the second Summer Residency and implemented during the residency.
Students wishing to pursue a third year in another genre should expect to repeat their second-year curriculum in that other genre. Minimum of 90 total degree credits for an additional 3rd-year in the second genre.

Residency Courses: 12-18 credits:
All courses in this section require a minimum of 4 credits and a maximum of 6 credits. Courses are repeatable.
Post-Residency Course: 2-3 Credits
Devoted to the polishing work begun during the Summer Residency
Distance Courses: 46-73 credits
Total credits required for major: minimum of 60
Students interested in completing a 3rd year in a second genre must complete a minimum of 90 credits
