AE 411 - Sustainable Animal Agriculture Management

Animal agriculture is an important part of both U.S. and global food and agriculture systems. As a result of increased public interest in the practices and processes used in animal agriculture to produce food and fiber, modern and future animal agriculture systems must focus on a more holistic approach to animal management. As a result, animal management must define sustainability for their operations, and identify and incorporate ‘best practices’ in regards to economic, social and ecological stewardship of all resources. This course will focus on how ‘sustainability’ in animal agriculture is defined, and how new technology, practices and policies can impact the ability of animal agriculture to achieve ‘sustainability’. Students must have at least junior standing to register for this course.
