SPED 319 - Foundations of Assessment in Special Education Credits: 3
The purpose of this course is to introduce theoretical and practical considerations in the psychological and educational assessment of exceptional learners. The primary focus is on the selection of appropriate instruments and approaches for assessing the academic, cognitive, communication, functional, social and transition skills/abilities of learners with mild, moderate and severe disabilities. Additionally, emphasis will be placed on the practice of nondiscriminatory assessment of culturally and linguistically diverse exceptional learners. Finally, basic measurement and statistical concepts and terminology will be introduced.
