SOC 333 - Sociology of Disability Credits: 5
An introduction to the field of disability studies. Examines the theories and models historically used to explain disability and the role of sociology in this history. Explores the disability rights and self-advocacy movements and significant policy initiatives that have extended civil rights to persons with disabilities. Includes discussion of Universal Design movement and the ethical consequences of genetic testing on disability.
