SCI 442 - Sustainable Water Resources Credits: 4
This lab/lecture style class provides a knowledge base that prepares the student to make use and management decisions about water use in rural environments. The interplay between water and the natural world is contrasted with the human need for water. The course covers basic water science as well as water use in sustainable energy production, recreation, agriculture, freshwater and marine fisheries, and the manufacturing industry. This knowledge base will allow the student to think critically about the effects of human interaction with the natural world. The lab will provide hands on experiences that reinforce the concepts presented in lecture and provides the opportunity for independent investigation. In its entirety, the course prepares the student to think about water use from a rural systems perspective.
