MUS 318 - Global Rhythms

The course will focus on rhythmic study of the world’s musical cultures. Students will study West African drumming styles, Hindustani rhythmic concepts, South American and Caribbean claves and drum rhythms, Eastern European mixed meters and Afro-American rhythmic vocabulary (Jazz, Funk, R&B, Hip Hop, Soul, Rap, Gospel).
