English/Writing Major

Complete all institutional graduation requirements.

English/Writing requires a minimum of 60 credits to complete the major. A grade of “C-” or better is required for each course counting towards the major and a cumulative GPA of 2.00 is required for completion of the major. S/U courses may not be elected for program requirements. Complete the modern languages requirement for the Bachelor of Arts degree. 

Students may combine the Professional and Public Writing minor with a major or second minor in English/Writing. Should students combine two English/Writing minors, no more than one required course can count toward both minors.

The [T] listed after the title of the course means the course is recommended for future K-12 teachers.

Prerequisites Required for Starting the Program: 8 credits


These courses are not counted in the 60 credit minimum for the major

Complete 5-8 credit hours @200 level+ (to reach the 60-credit required minimum for the degree)

Complete elective credits to reach 60 credits for the degree. Most students will need 5-8 elective credit hours. The credits can be any 200, 300 or 400 level ENGL or WR courses not already used in the degree. The list of courses are below:
