Students taking this course will learn to recognize birds by sight and sound. Special attention will be placed on identifying birds by flight, body size, beak size, and feathers. Students can also expect to learn about avian natural history and habitats. The Grande Ronde Valley and specifically the Ladd March Wildlife Refuge are amazing places for seeing a wide variety of bird species. This course is field oriented and will involve off-campus trips to local wildlife viewing areas.
